Nano stretch film, sometimes called nano pallet wrap, has become one of the most effective ways to cut the plastic and the cost on every machine-wrapped pallet. Here’s how it differs from standard machine film, and when it makes sense to switch.
Nano stretch film is machine stretch film made from many ultra-thin layers co-extruded together. Layering gives a thin film more strength and stretch than a conventional film.
Our Nanofilm range is built from 67 nano-layers, from 10 microns thin.
Traditional 250% power pre-stretch films in 17, 20 and 23 micron are the backbone of UK pallet wrapping: reliable, widely available and simple to quote. But they rely on thickness for their strength, so every pallet carries more film.
| Nanofilm | Standard 250% machine film | |
|---|---|---|
| Thickness | From 10 microns | 17, 20 or 23 microns |
| Stretch | Up to 380% | 250% power pre-stretch |
| Where strength comes from | 67 nano-layers | The thickness of the film |
| Performance | High holding force, consistent at speed | Depends on the gauge and machine settings |
Nanofilm is built for demanding, high-volume machine wrapping. For heavy, tall or awkward loads, fibre-reinforced FiberFilm can be the better choice. The only reliable way to know is to test both on your own pallets.
If you buy 17, 20 or 23 micron 250% film from us, we guarantee we can beat it with our Nanofilm or FiberFilm ranges. Book a benchmarking appointment or demo day and we’ll prove it on your own pallets.
Compare all our machine stretch film ranges side by side: Nanofilm, FiberFilm and 250%.
We’ll measure your current film per pallet, trial Nanofilm on your line and show you the difference in containment, cost per pallet and consistency, in writing. Book a free benchmark.
